Happy Anniversary! Help Us Celebrate the Next Ten Years of Houston Institute for Culture Support for the Houston Museum of Culture will help these important Houston Institute for Culture programs carry on and grow in the future:
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS ![]() Workshops are provided for adults and youth to focus on education, nutrition, and other important subjects, with emphasis on cultural and social factors. ![]() Conferences and Lectures are offered on a variety of topics of cultural interest. Topics geared for acdemic and general communities have ranged from "The Color Conference: An investigation of social values, identity, aesthetics, and the psychology of color" to "Vernacular Architecture and the Building Arts: The Gulf Coast Connection". ![]() Community Meeting and Event Space has been provided by Houston Institute for Culture for more than eight years, being utilized by dozens of Houston arts and community organization to plan and offer events for the broader community. ![]() Research Programs have included traditions of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, and economics of the U.S.-Mexico border. Houston Institute for Culture has additionally presented numerous scholars presenting local and international topics. ![]() HIFC Volunteer Programs have helped in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and served with Houston doctors on the U.S.-Mexico border. The volunteer programs have generally occurred in regions where the organization has conducted documentary projects or research, and gained extensive experience. Other programs have taken place on American Indian reservations, including digital storytelling and other communication workshops. Support Community Programs
